MobiCell Kick-Off
Locating and protecting vulnerable road users through networked smartphones
At our kick-off event at the Denkfabrik in Magdeburg’s Port of Science, we presented the goals and approach of the MobiCell project together with our project partner ifak (Institute for Automation and Communication Magdeburg).
About the research project
The feasibility of V2X communication between different cyclists and pedestrians is investigated with the help of a test system to be developed, consisting of smartphone app, mobile radio (Cellular-V2X) and cloud services.
The system is designed to enable location- and time-independent detection of dangerous situations, such as possible collisions, using real-time sensor data from smartphones, and to coordinate evasive maneuvers. By using the smartphone, which is available anyway, it will be easier for all citizens* to get started.
The MobiCell project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport as part of the mFUND innovation initiative.
