We developed a compact outdoor app for Breckenridge, a popular tourist region in Colorado (US). The clearly designed guide contains all  functions that are relevant for visitors. At the same time, customised ‘mini-features’ tailored to the customer’s needs ensure that the digital guide is easy to use in everyday life.

C for compact and customized

We developed a visually appealing digital guide with all relevant standard features such as GPS maps, transit information, tour tips, filters and POIs in a short period of time from commissioning to go-live.

In dialogue with the client, it quickly became clear which three topics were essential for them. The challenge was therefore to take these needs into account without compromising on the compactness and clarity of the application.

Tailor-made in detail

The customer wanted seasonally appropriate images for the tour descriptions, since you can visit Breckenridge in every season of the year. Manually feasible, of course, but time-consuming. Our solution: a code that automatically changes two previously stored images depending on the specified date. In other words, no effort at all for our customer, who was particularly pleased with this lean solution.

Furthermore, it was necessary to depict the excellent free transport infrastructure of the Breckenridge region on the map. However, this turned out to be so excellent that our beautiful map was no longer beautiful at all, but suddenly very confusing: a large number of black dots (bus stops) were displayed, destroying any information content. The quick solution from our developer team: the bus stops were removed and put into a separate info layer. This view can now be switched on as required, similar to Google Maps. This way, all information is available, but the clarity of the tour map with the tours is not affected.

A central concern of the client was to encourage visitors to adopt more environmentally conscious behaviour. Our solution: small colour-coded ‘widgets’ with tips that can be used anywhere in the app, e.g. on the detail pages. Visitors can also read all 21 tips chronologically.

As a final result, B like Breckenridge presents itself as a slick and compact basic outdoor app with a contemporary design and customized solutions where necessary.

We would also be happy to advise you on your customised outdoor or tourism app.
